Back In The Saddle
…is a song by Aerosmith but I won’t sing that to you today…
Just here to let you know more about the next show and that normal service is pretty much back, finally. I’ve just spent several days getting uptodate with my “someone paid me to restore this, and it’s been delayed” folder - an Elton John gig from 1974 as it happens; it turned out really well (all 2 hours and 20 minutes of it, in several stereo and mono sections stuck together and made to sound like 1 recording) BUT… I have had Benny and The Jets as an earworm in my head ever since!
“Bennie (Bennie)
Bennie (Bennie)
Bennie (Bennie)
Bennie, Bennie and the Jets…” agh, see?
Anyway, now that’s over and I’m identifying a few gigs to do over the next few months. And I’ve just started on the first one. It actually came to me from a listener to the site, along with a few other gigs. However, it was already heavily processed and turned into the kind of “fake stereo” I used to sometimes do with mono recordings. I could take that, make it sound clearer and with more oomph but that fake stereo tends to take a lot of power out of recordings. Not good.
So I found an original mono source and I’m doing it my way, from scratch. Hoping that it will be ready within a week. As always, as subscribers to the newsletter you are all the first to know these things and I’ll send another newsletter out just as soon as it’s uploaded to the site. Who is it? Well, it’s a gig from early 1980 and here’s a whopping great clue:
Until next time - have a great weekend!
Cheers!
