Hi All
I have done some early prep on what will be the next new restoration so I thought I’d let you know now.
Since I wrote last week I came down with a heavy cold which is refusing to go away at the moment - ever tried doing audio work with a head full of cotton wool?! Not advisable - BUT what I have been able to do is listen through what the next show is going to be, fix the tape dropouts and weird clicks/gaps and make copious notes on what other stuff needs doing once this cold buggers off.
So…the next show will be Toyah, an FM broadcast of tracks from a date on her Changeling tour in 1982. She released a double live album from that tour recorded on both nights in London - but this isn’t from those shows and will be an authentic “warts and all” live experience! Actually it’s a great show - I had no idea she had such great musicians working with her back then, including Phil Spalding and Simon Phillips, who both later played with Mike Oldfield, among many others. Anyway! That’s coming soon, just as soon as my head clears up and I can reliably hear what I’m doing again.
A little something for the weekend?
Live and Loud! was born during my time doing weekly internet radio shows some years back. Occasionally I also did themed specials as a break from my regular shows. I was reminded that 10 years ago this week, I did a “Punk and New Wave” Special. No talking from me for once, I just skilfully blended and mixed (it says here) 2 hours’ worth of tracks into a great sounding mix.
Sadly the radio station disappeared long ago but most of my shows have been hosted on Mixcloud for years, including this one. If you fancy a listen over the weekend (and it’s a really good playlist - I just spent half an hour chair dancing to some of it - not heard it since I did it, I think!) click on the graphic - that will take you to the show in Mixcloud. You don’t even have to log in to listen if you’re not registered, just hit the play button.
The list above is alphabetical (and not complete!) - Mixcloud shows you what’s on in the player but with a mix of the popular and less common, if you love the music of 1977-80(ish) you’ll find a lot to love here.
Another update when I’ve got some work done! In the meantime, have a great weekend, all.
Until next time!
Cheers!
Phil
