Hi all
Well this was a little unplanned but this morning I saw a link to a YouTube video containing a short French TV broadcast from 1973 of a ballet based on Oscar Wilde’s The Face Of Dorian Gray. The music for it was composed by Jean Michel Jarre and has never been heard or released outside this performance! So I grabbed the audio and spent a few hours restoring and remastering it - primarily for my own listening pleasure. And then I thought those listeners to my site who enjoy Jarre might appreciate this too.
Bear in mind that this is several years before Oxygene and the music is still somewhat avant garde in places, although there is a version of Les Granges Brulees which - as fans will know - is more melodic and more of an early ancestor to his later work.
The audio - coming from YouTube - was compressed of course but has polished up very nicely indeed and sound quality is very good. You can read more about what I did on the page (and watch the ballet broadcast if you wish!) but without further ado, just click on the graphic below to take you to the page on the site. And I’m using the new cloud service I am trialling for this one too, so you can stream the audio if you prefer.
On This Day…
Seven years ago today I uploaded a restored FM broadcast of a show from 1980 by my old musical friend Nash The Slash. He played several shows at this venue in Toronto in early 1980 - and at 1 of them, Gary Numan turned up to watch while on tour, and liked him so much he invited him to support him on the rest of the tour and in the UK later that year. In 2021 I revisited this and made it sound even better - you can visit the page and download the show for free by clicking on the image here below.
Other News
I’m just completing the 2nd of 2 Elton John gigs for a client, then onto a couple of other things and will be sorting out a new live show to restore very soon. And yes, also finishing that Ramones restoration I mentioned last time. Honest.
As soon as there’s some news I will let you all know of course. And as always, if anyone has any requests, comment below, or send it over via email if you can’t comment.
Until next time…
Cheers!
Phil
